Tesla electric trains rival BMW 3-Series

American manufacturer of electric sports car Tesla, by 2015, plans to launch a new model - a sedan, according to their dimensions, similar to the BMW 3-Series. This publication Autocar reports with reference to the head of "Tesla" Elon Mask, who is the founder of PayPal payment system and the company SpaceX, producing satellites for the U.S. government. 

According to preliminary information, a compact sedan Tesla will be built on an aluminum monocoque and will be equipped with an electric power plant, whose characteristics are not announced. It is expected that the sedan will be the most affordable model of the manufacturer - the cost will be about 30 thousand dollars. 

At present the company Tesla produces only one model - roadster, which is able to travel without recharging 350 kilometers, and speeds up to "hundreds" of less than four seconds. Recently, the American manufacturer, introduced the other car - the big five-seat sedan called the Model S. This car appears in the series in mid 2012 and will cost about 50 thousand dollars. 

As reported previously, in the near future, Tesla intends to begin production four-seater sports car that will compete with Porsche 911 Turbo and will be offered as a complete, and with rear wheel drive. The company does not rule out that later in the scheme will appear and cars with bodies "crossover" and "coupe" that will increase the sale of "Tesla" to 200 thousand cars per year. 

To run all six models in the series of company Tesla will need to modernize its assembly facility in California. This requires an investment of $ 500 million.
